I'll Be There For You

This is a reminder to the military wife who is holding down the home front,

You are strong, but you don’t have to hold it all together with me.

You can act as if the circumstances of this season aren’t affecting you, but you don’t have to pretend with me.

You can be too proud to ask for help, but I will help anyway.

When I ask how are you? I want more than just a generic; I’m fine.

You can put a fake smile on for others, but I will be here when the tears come.

I want you to know that it’s ok to be on the receiving end of this friendship.

I want you to understand that I don’t need anything in return.

I want to speak life into you.

I want to put a smile on your face.

I want you to be the receiver in this season.

I know these things about you and your struggles because I have been in your shoes.

At one point, I was the receiver, and now it’s my turn to be the giver.

Let me be that person for you.

Let me be the giver.

Signed,

A fellow Receiver

- To all the military spouses who have helped me along the way. This was written and inspired by you. Thank you for showing me what it looks like to be the village.
